Working out whether a pallet is worth it
The listing price is only one of four numbers that decide whether a lot makes you money.
| Number | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Cost per unit | Lot price divided by the working unit count. This is the figure to compare between lots, not the headline price. |
| Expected sell-through | The share you realistically expect to sell. On graded returns, plan for a portion that never sells at all. |
| Your time per unit | Sorting, testing, photographing and listing. A cheap lot of many low-value items can cost more in hours than it returns. |
| Storage and disposal | Space while you work through it, and the cost of getting rid of what does not sell. |
Freight is already inside our listed price, so it is one variable you do not have to model separately.
Where the stock comes from
Customer returns
Goods returned to a retailer or fulfilment centre. Mixed condition by definition, and the largest share of what moves through the market.
Overstock and clearance
Stock that never sold. Usually new and sealed, sometimes seasonally dated or in shopworn packaging.
Shelf pulls and range changes
Pulled from display when a range was replaced. The goods are typically fine even when the box is not.

- Check the condition grade on the listing and ask for a manifest if one exists.
- Confirm truck access at your delivery address, especially for residential deliveries.
- Read the buyer FAQ if this is your first lot.
